Wednesday, Rise of Labor Unions

Student Objective: Analyze economic issues such as the growth of labor unions; and analyze social issues affecting children and the working class.

1. Submit Ch. 14 Vocabulary: Labor's Response to Industrialism here.

2. Open Evernote or a new Google Doc titled, "Labor's Response to Industrialism".  (If you are creating a new Google Doc move it into your Industrialization folder).  We will be taking notes over the rise of labor unions.

3.  Before we begin our notes, look at the image below and answer the following questions (in complete sentences) using the document you just created. :

• What is this flyer advertising?
• Why do you think the flyer is written in English and German?
• At what audience is the flyer aimed?
• What is the tone of the flyer?
• Brainstorm possible reasons for the clash between workers and police that led to the shooting that is mentioned in the flyer.

4. When everyone finishes with the questions listed above we will begin our notes.
