Wednesday, April 18: Executive Order 9066

Student Objective: Analyze major issues of WWII, including . . . the internment of German, Italian, and Japanese Americans and Executive Order 9066

1.  We will start class today by reading 35.4 (pp. 454-455) which discusses the internment of Japanese Americans after the attack on Pearl Harbor.

2. Now watch this video that the United States government created  to explain to the American public why they felt it was necessary to inter Japanese Americans after the attack on Pearl Harbor.

2. After watching the video take a position (siding with the American government or siding with Japanese Americans) and create a "scene" in Google draw that would depict your stance on Executive Order 9066.
  • Title: Executive Order 9066
  • tip: use simple geometric shapes to create people, buildings, etc.
  • it should be obvious which viewpoint you support (government decision or the rights of Japanese Americans)
  • include a caption which will help to "sell" your viewpoint
  • have fun with it.
