Friday, October 19: The Immigrant Experience (Cont'd)

 Student Objective: Describe the optimism of the many immigrants who sought a better life in Americaanalyze causes and effects of events and social issues such as immigration . . .nativismanalyze causes and effects of changing demographic patterns resulting from . . . immigration to the US.

1. We are going to be starting a project that deals with European immigration to the United States.  Each of you will be taking on the role of a European immigrant and then creating  a website that describes your experiences before, during, and after your emigration.  The details of the project will be posted for you on Monday.

2. Create a folder within your Immigration Unit folder.  Title this folder "Immigration Project".  This will be the folder where all of your project info/research will be stored.  If you need help with this please raise your hand.

2. The first step of the project is to draw your immigrant card.  I will walk around and you will pick a card from me.  All of the information on the card needs to be typed out on a new Google Document.  This document should be titled "Immigrant Card" and placed in your Immigration Project folder.

3. Next, you need to watch the video, "Face Of America: The Ellis Island Immigration Museum".  In a new Google Document take notes over the video.  This document also needs to go in your Immigration Project folder.  Pay special attention to the specifics of your immigrant card and the processes you would have had to go through at Ellis Island and take notes over those processes.
